EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) is a synthetic elastomer valued for resistance to weathering, ozone and ultraviolet exposure. It can tolerate high temperatures and is commonly used outdoors and in non-oil chemical environments.
EPDM appears in seals, O-rings, grommets, waterproof sheets, playground flooring, roofing membranes and vehicle sealing strips. Solid sheet is denser and better for demanding loads; cellular EPDM is softer and compresses more easily where flexibility is important.
