CrossFit combines constantly varied, high-intensity functional movement with coaching and community. Five principles can make the first months more approachable:

  1. Forget the stereotypes. Good coaches prioritise safe form and stop athletes from doing more than they can control.
  2. Do not wait to get in shape. Classes can be scaled for beginners; you do not need to be fit before joining.
  3. Pick the right box. Visit local gyms, ask questions and choose one whose focus and coaching match your goals.
  4. Bring the right mindset. Leave ego at the door; CrossFit communities include many ages, backgrounds and ability levels.
  5. Do not quit too soon. Give the process time to develop, especially through the first 90 days.
